How the DISA RTD Program Ensures Safety and Supports Employee Recovery

SAP Evaluation

In safety-sensitive industries, maintaining a drug and alcohol free workplace is non-negotiable. Employees depend on workers to remain clear-headed and compliant, especially in high-risk environments. When an employee violates a drug and alcohol policy, the DISA Return to Duty Program provides a structured pathway to recovery and reintegration.

Far more than a bureaucratic formality, the DISA RTD process is about accountability, rehabilitation, and safety — helping workers who have violated testing policies rebuild trust and resume work in a responsible and monitored manner.

What is DISA?

DISA Global Solutions is a third-party administrator (TPA) that specializes in compliance programs, including drug and alcohol testing, background checks, occupational health screening, and more. Many major employers utilize DISA to ensure compliance with both internal company policies and federal regulations, such as those established by the Department of Transportation.

When an employee fails or refuses a drug or alcohol test within the DISA system, they are placed into inactive status and become ineligible to work until they complete the RTD process.
